Midvale Community Lutheran Church has adopted Van Hise Elementary School through the Foundation for Madison’s Public Schools Adopt-a-School Program.
An Adopt-a-School relationship provides multiple opportunities to support a particular school, with the goal of enriching the education of all students. Adopt-a-School partners generally provide some combination of human, material, and financial resources to the school they’ve adopted, with human resources being the most valued.
Midvale Lutheran celebrated the decision to partner with Van Hise by committing to recruit volunteers for literacy and math tutoring. If you are interested in learning more about tutoring opportunities at Van Hise Elementary, 4747 Waukesha Street, please contact Ginny Bormett at firstname.lastname@example.org or Lorraine Snyder at email@example.com. You can sign up online here.
We have since also joined the Box Tops for Education program. Box Tops is a program that earns free money for schools. Each box top is worth 10 cents. Box Tops collection contributes more than $2,000 toward Van Hise PTO’s fundraising efforts each year. The Box Top program funds greatly needed supplies for our classrooms, particularly our specials: music, PE, art and Positive Behavior Support. To be part of this endeavor, look for the box top symbol on groceries that you buy, cut out the label and bring it to the box top collection box on Social Ministry’s table in the Gathering Space. Some of the participating companies are General Mills, Betty Crocker, Green Giant, Kleenex, Scott and more!
